My advice, for what it's worth, is that you'd be happiest in an environment when you can be more directly involved in policy and practice, rather than 'just' analysing them - so this arrangement sounds good. But if you're still working for the government, you'll have to do more writing of 'parables' and less of straight-talking blogging! (Noticed a post mysteriously disappearing a few months ago....) Brighton is indeed a nice place to be, enjoy the sea and the ice cream! (Marocco's in Hove esp recommended.) And will be interesting to see if Caroline Lucas manages to make some impact in Westminster - she was an active MEP (supportive to the Western Sahara so gets my vote).
